Essere arrivati nella citta' che ha visto il fulgore della Corsa dell' Oro del Klondike ( fiume sul quale domani correremo con i nostri cani... ! ), la nascita dei racconti di Jack London ( la cui casa visiteremo domani mattina ) da Zanna Bianca al Richiamo della Foresta, le struggenti poesie di Robert Service ... provoca una emozione senza precedenti. Sembra di essere catapultati automaticamente in quella epoca d' oro e di leggenda, anche perche' Dawson City ha mantenuto intatte tutte le sue caratteristiche archittetoniche e culturali.
Oggi pero' abbiamo attaccato le nostre 2 mute di Cani sulla pista della Yukon Quest poco fuori la cittadina ed abbiamo percorso in andata e ritorno i 40 Km. ( 80 Km totali ! ) che separano Dawson City dal King Solomon Dome ( la Cima di Re Salomone ) la montagna piu' alta di tutta la pista di questa Gara. E' stata una lunga e costante salita verso questa cima straordinaria dalla quale si ha una vista mozzafiato a 360 gradi su tutti questi incredibili ed infiniti territori.
L' Alaskano Lance Mackey ed il suo team di straordinari 12 cani ( 11 maschi ed una femmina ! ) partiranno puntuali da qui stanotte alle ore 1:40 dopo il loro meritato riposo obbligatorio di 36 ore. Lo seguira' a ruota dopo soli 6 minuti ( il suo ritardo all' arrivo qui ieri mattina ! ) Ken Anderson di Fox Alaska. Sara' senz' altro una gara tra questi due team ed i loro incredibili Cani !
Domani mattina visiteremo le baite di legno di Jack London e di Robert Service approfittando per visitare a fondo questa meravigliosa cittadina di altri tempi. Nel pomeriggio partiremo di nuovo con le due mute di cani e tutta l' attrezzatura per fare un accampamento con le nostre tende sul mistico Fiume Yukon.
E' notte fonda e tra poco piu' di un ora parte con i suoi 12 cani il grande Lance Mackey e voglio andare a salutarlo ed a rassicurarlo sulle splendide condizioni della pista da Dawson City alla Cima del Re Salomone.

Being arrived in the City which has witnessed the blossoming of the Gold Rush of the Klondike ( River on which tomorrow we will mush our dogs ... ! ), the birth of Jack London's tales such as White Fang, The Call of the Wild, the heartly poems of Robert Service ...provokes an unbelievable emotion. It seems to be automatically thrown in that golden and legendary era, even because Dawson City has mantained intact all its architectural and cultural carachteristics.
But Today we have hooked our two sled Dog teams on the Yukon Quest Race Trail just out of town and we have travelled roundtrip the 25 miles ( total of 50 miles trip ) which separate Dawson City from King Solomon Dome ( the highest peak of the entire Race ). It has been a long and constant ascent towards this extraordinary peak from which there is a breath taking 360 degrees view on all these amazing and endless territories.
The Alaskan Lance Mackey and his team of extraordinary 12 dogs ( 11 males and just 1 female ! ) will leave spot on time tonight at 1:40 am after their well deserved and mandatory rest of 36 hours. Ken Anderson of Fox Alaska will follow at just 6 minutes of gap ( his delay at yesterday' s arrival ! ). This will be with any doubt a race between these two teams and their extraordinary Dogs !
Tomorrow morning we will visit the cabins of Jack London and Robert Service, taking a great chance to visit carefully this wonderful town of other ages. In the afternoon we will leave again with the two dog teams and all the gear necessary to put up a proper camp on the River Yukon.
It' s late night now and in less than one hour the great Lance Mackey will start with his 12 dogs, and I want to go greet him and tell him also that the trail from here to the King Solomon Dome is in perfect shape.
