Per due giorni non abbiamo fatto altro che parlare di cani
soprattutto con Martin. Ieri invece siamo scesi ad Anchorage
per incontrare gli altri membri della “ spedizione “
Keith e Beth che guideranno con Gianni le motoslitte di supporto.
E’ stato un incontro MOLTO importante!
...three days to the start from Nenana of our challenge
of 700 miles towards Nome...on Balto’s footprints. I
cannot hide you that I am excited and I can’t wait to
ride my sled and…start with my dogs and Megh. The day
before Yesterday we got back from Lake Louise where we trained
the last time for 25 and 40 miles with Sven, Toni and Martin.
Gianni the cameraman rented a sno machine to follow my team
and shooted some wonderful tv footage. For two days we just
talked about dogs with Martin. Yesterday instead we went to
Anchorage to meet the other members of our “ expedition
“ Keith and Beth who will drive with Gianni the sno machines
supporting us. It has been a very important meeting !
Come potete immaginare sono molto preso
dai preparativi dell’ultimo momento ma sono felice che
sia giunto il momento di partire e...fare sul serio ! L’
IDITAROD ha subito drastici cambiamenti dovuti al clima impietoso
che qua nel sud ha praticamente cancellato tutta la neve a
causa della pioggia. La partenza inaugurale della Gara partira’
in forma ridotta ad Anchorage il 1 di marzo ma la gara vera
e propria ripartira’ due giorni dopo da... FAIRBANKS,
500 km piu’ a nord e...udite, udite...seguira’ la
nostra stessa pista da Nenana fino a RUBY sullo Yukon dove
poi tornera’ a sud per collegarsi alla rotta originale.
...as you can imagine I am very busy
with my last minute preparations but I am real happy that
the time to leave and become serious …has come. The IDITAROD
Sleddog Race suffered drastic changes due to the meanful weather
which here in the south has practically cancelled all the
snow because of the rain. The inaugural start will be held
in a reduced manner in Anchorage the 1st of march but the
real race will start two days later from…FAIRBANKS, 300
miles up north and…hear, hear…will follow our same
trail from Nenana to Ruby on the Yukon where it will turn
south to join the original route.
