Siamo bloccati a Ruby da una bufera di neve che ha reso la visibilità molto scarsa. Abbiamo consultato le previsioni meteo che annunciano un miglioramento per la serata quindi….abbiamo deciso che è meglio partire domani mattina presto per Galena.

…..we are snowed in by a snow storm which makes visibility very poor. We consulted the weather forecast which announces an improvement for the evening….so we decided it is better to leave tomorrow early morning towards Galena.

Questa mattina siamo andati alla locale Scuola Elementare e Superiore per presentarci. Ho cominciato io con i miei racconti riguardo la mia terra nativa, l'Africa, il fiume Nilo sul quale sono nato a Khartoum, l'Italia, la mia famiglia, il mio lavoro, le mie partecipazioni in Iditarod, Iditaski , Alpirod e Yukon Quest. Ho cantato le mie canzoni e suonato alcuni pezzi strumentali con la chitarra classica del Direttore della Scuola. I 41 studenti e gli insegnanti erano molto colpiti ed io con loro per la calda accoglienza. Anche Sven e Keith hanno raccontato la loro esperienza. Mi ha colpito molto il messaggio di PACE e di serenità lanciato da Kieth ( 52 anni, veterano della guerra del Vietnam, ex alcolista e tossico dipendente ed ora consulente). La simpaticissima tecnica di computer April poi ci ha aiutato a spedire questi messaggi in Internet. Abbiamo pranzato con i bambini ed il personale della Scuola.

…..in the morning we went to the local Elementary school for a presentation. I started first with my tales about my native country, Africa, the River Nile on which I was born, Italy, my Family,my job, my partecipation in the Iditarod, Iditaski, Alpirod, and Yukon Quest, I sang my songs and played some instrumental tunes with the classical guitar of the Manager of the School. The 41 students and their teachers were impressed and I was too for their warmth.. Even Sven and Keith told their stories. I was impressed by the message of peace and serenity by him ( 52 years old, Vietnam war veteran, recovering alcoholic and drug addict with 25 years sobriety and now councilor). The nice computer technician April then helped us to send these messages in the internet. We had lunch with the students and the personell of the school.
