Extraordinary combined events related to the fascinating World of the Dryland Sleddog Sport, in the wonderful natural amphitheatre of the Fusine Lakes Plains at the feet of Mount Mangart, in the same Area where the European Sprint Championships of 2006 have been organized by the well known organization of the International Mushing School (S.I.M.) managed by Ararad and Monica Khatchikian in cooperation with the Italian Musher Sleddog Sport Federation ( F.I.M.S.S. ) the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Municipality of Tarvisio. Almost 50 teams have entered this Sunday’ s the 5th of October Dryland Race competing on the perfectly prepared 4 and 2 Km trails of the Fusine Plains. Starting from the 6 dogs KART teams won by far by the former Italian FCI ( Nordic Pure Breeds ) Champion PIERANGELO PATRIARCA, the KART 4 dogs FCI category has been won by UGO DEL NEVO from Genova followed by only 26 seconds by the Italian mushing “wonder woman“ PAOLA ALBANESE from Treviso. Overall best time and winner in the numerous BIKE JORING category, the super Slovenian ski jorer - biker and runner EDVARD SCHUMET ( also IFSS BJ 2007 World Champion ! ) with his very fast Hound Dog “ Zoom” with the exceptional time of 7 minutes and 56 seconds to cover the 4 Km race trail ! The same musher makes also a very much appreciated and super fast SCOOTER demonstration ! The FCI class of Bike Joring is dominated by the Italian Champion FILIPPO PICCININI from Treviso and his Siberian Husky in 9 minutes and 41 seconds on the local hero BRUNO SOLARI. DANIELE CHIEFA with his Siberian Husky is the overall Seniors winner ( FCI and Open classes ! ) of the “Queen” of the Dryland Categories, the CANICROSS. The Women Canicross Category is won by the former Italian Long Triathlon Champion DINA BRAGUTI with her Alaskan Malamute. The 15 years old ELISA KANDUTSCH from Tarvisio and her Alaskan Husky Brave, won the Junior Canicross Cat. The race finished with the BABY and JUNIOR under 14 years of age CANICROSS runners on the 2 Km. trail with the winning teams of the little boy and girl ( 7 years ! ) Azad Khatchikan and Ludovica Padulano with the Alaskan Huskies Easter and Chester, 12 years old Serena Muller with the Alaskan Husky Algol, and the 13 years old Francesco Matiz and Elisabetta Glussi.
During the Awards presentation the President of the Italian Federation Massimo Bassan, announced the 2011 FISTC ( Nordic Pure Breeds ) WORLD CAHMPIONSHIPS to be held in Tarvisio ! Welcome also to the numerous sportive and recreational activities offered on the Fusine Plains by the International Mushing School, Via Verdi 21, 33018 Tarvisio – Fusine (UD) Italy.
